Oz, this one is outstanding ..... Reminds me of years ago when I was a graduate student at UW Madison, trekking around campus between class sessions, with my inexpensive walkman and headphones listening to The Police albums on cassette tape. Great efforts and excellent results, your trademark doing the Nak Reference showcase videos. Cheers, Bleus de Nakker ****************
Thank you Bluesy! Well, you were the catalyst for this latest flurry of Nak 680ZX videos so I have you to thank. I hope you enjoy the other two Reference Recording by Nakamichi videos I uploaded as well: James Newton Howard & Friends and Dave Grusin. Next on my agenda, highlighting a couple of my Nautilus Recordings tapes. Cheers!
Since I wasn't familar with the tape you were using I had to look them up and found this great website. http://www.angelfire.com/wi/blueswapper/nakrefcassettes.html
Brilliant page and in case you hadn’t put two and two together, that page was created by our very own JK Bleus Parsons right above on this same thread! Ha!
Thanks dear fellows, I'm pleased that the Nak Reference Cassette web pages are being useful within the community. That reference info compliments the videos posted on Stereo2Go.Com, and that's really good fortune for all of us in the community. Posting music clips with visuals is excellent stuff. Oz, your efforts creating the Nak Reference Cassettes and 680ZX deck videos are masterpieces. Cheers, Bleusy ************
Awe thank you Bluesy! It is my pleasure and even duty to make these videos showcasing this beloved format. Next week I’ll shoot a couple of my Nautilus SuperCasssette which are only second to the mighty Nakamichi Reference Recording series. They’re not so far behind and should make for an interesting companion. All my best, Oz
Thanks for the posts Oz, I know very little about these high-end recordings, I never would have had the equipment to play them on in the 80's, so they're a refreshing change of pace from the normal prerecorded tapes I was exposed to. I've been checking out old issues of Audio and High Fidelity with more information on the guys involved with their production, I was unaware of Nautilus, I'll have to look them up. I love the Nakamichi Website, I've been a fan since the early 2000's, the internet opened up the world of knowledge on these machines that were unobtainium when I was a kid, I believe sites like that are one of the reasons cassettes are coming back. I was out in the garage trying to decide if the Bruins and Blue Jackets Overtime would go long enough for me to change out some belts and right on top of some tapes was this beautiful TDK MA, the same tape used for the Nakamichi Reference Series, very odd, I don't even remember where I got it or that I even had it and why it was sitting out, but here's a photo.
@Mister X: You put some salt onto my fresh wounds: I do not remember my yesterday's "streaming" ventures but I DO remember when and where I bought my MA-110 cassettes!!! Even remember what was recorded onto them: Klaus Schulze and Genesis LPs which hit the limits of vinyl
You're welcome sir! Please do check out my latest video I just posted highlighting another great pre-recorded cassette label: Nautilus! I grabbed a song from each of those three titles earlier today and have just finished editing and uploading a track from John Klemmer's Straight From The Heart called "Arabesque" which I hope you'll enjoy!
