My vintage Yamaha K-220 won't record all of the sudden. I keep trying to press the record button, and it does not active, even with the plate off. Play, reverse, fast forward, and stop all still work. Checked the fuses, and they look fine. Have no clue what else to look for. Any advice would be strongly accepted, this stereo is a family heirloom, and I want to try and restore it before resorting to replacement. Here are some interior photos....

check the switch which protects pre-recorded cassettes (with tab removed)

It’s probably not an electric fault if other functions are working. If you can locate the record trigger, usually on the back plate above the cogs, it may be jammed. For example, when you press play and record together the system won’t engage if there is a record tab on the cassette, or if there’s no cassette.

Update, turns out it was 3 problems
    1. There was a slight stick with the record notch, fixed it easily
    2. The audio cable I was using went bad. Swapped that out
    3. The record led is acting up. Currently resoldering it, if it continues to act up, I will need to find a replacement part
