Hello from Northern Ontario Canada. Just getting back into analogue and introducing my daughter to it, making mixed tapes and buying old prerecorded at garage sales and thrift shops. Have been collecting for about a year buying only locally. Currently looking for a personal cassette player for myself for daily use. I had Panasonic and Sony when younger but am not attached to a specific brand. Always on the lookout for more ghetto blasters as they are what I have begun collecting. Regards, Matt Personal Cassette Players Sony WM-F46 Recording Walkman complete with box, manual, headphones and accessories. - Cuts out randomly with a hollow sound randomly once it warms up. Plays normally but speeds up and slows down when fast forwarding or rewinding. JVC CX-F5 Compact - Needs belts and has possible gear issues. Use it as a FM radio. Panasonic RQ-SW30 Sport with headphones. - Perfect function, used daily by both daughter and myself. Boomboxes Sharp Gf-7 Compact - Recently had belts replaced and service done locally. Lives in my daughter’s room where it sees daily use. Panasonic RX-4930 - My main beach and outdoors unit. Works and sounds great, but has yellowing of the gray plastic. Hitachi TRK-7000HC - Very nice condition unit for my home office / workshop room. JVC RV-B55 Kaboom - My only CD player. Least favourite unit aesthetically as I prefer the eighties more angular designs. Need to obtain a replacement antenna. Welcome GenericNinja, I love nothing better than hockey, beer and members from Canada! Believe it or not we've had a small but very dedicated membership from up there, you guys got a ton of great equipment. Not only the US Versions, but the oddball Japanese Versions they didn't send here and lots of other great stuff. Getting the kids involved is awesome, they really seem to like the buttons and switches that actually do something but they also think it's all indestructable. I love giving my entry level units away, hopefully pique some interest in the younger generation. Look up WELTRON CLAIRTONE BRAUN's threads, he's up there and found all of his stuff locally, he actually inspired me to look for more, and while my collection is a fraction of his I did find some neat stuff when I put some effort into it.
Thanks for the tip. I read some of his posts which inspired me to check Kijiji. Just got home with a Realistic Portavision 16-109 boombox. It needs belts and deoxidizing, just missing the antenna tip. Can't wait to see it after a little work.
Nice pickup, I love TV boomboxes, it took me awhile but I bought a Blonder-Tongue Transmitter and a Roku with RCA outs and now can watch YouTube on the little guys.
