    THE SOURCE

As per Alexander Atanasov: "The source from which the [LP] recordings are made is a 30 kilogram gramophone with a Technics N1 mechanism and a modified dose of Stanton 680. The RIAA corrector is a tube and is our production. Interconnects are also our "silver shadow" silver wires with rhodium tips. Power cables are Silver Power Magic 1, which we are very proud of. The recording machine is "The KING of Tape" version 3.5 [edit: a highly modified Nakamichi DR-10] without using a Dolby system."

Thanks Oswaldo, it's cool seeing the digital path. I haven't looked it up but what is "rhodium?" I really like my mid-fi AIWA Decks, how do you like the big AIWAs compared with the better equipment? I usually just run prerecorded tapes and some really old personal recordings through mine but the quality is really good. My belts are all turning to mush so I can't rotate tape equipment as easily, most require a tune-up and cleaning but I try to pull out a new machine every couple months to see if there's a noticable difference in sonics.

    Greetings Mister X!

In looking up Rhodium you will find it is a desirable metal as a conductor with low probability of corrosion. According to Wikipedia:

"It is a rare, silvery-white, hard, corrosion-resistant, and chemically inerttransition metal. It is a noble metal and a member of the platinum group."

Regarding the Aiwa F 660 I must say I am really impressed with this unit. It is not my own, but on loan from a good friend but I am completely blown away by it's admirable performance. It not only plays back pre-recorded tapes INCREDIBLY well, but it makes superior recordings. I would happily add one of these decks to my personal collection. In fact, I should just look for one soon.

    Best regards!

I passed by one years ago, I had a small collection of decks when nobody wanted them and just couldn't justify taking up the space, It's one of those huge regrets but you never know, another might pop up.

Nice recording effort, Oz ..... As always, you're re-introducing oldie gear technology, and sharing extraordinary music recordings.

Will you be posting another of your vinyl treasures utilizing the new VPI Anniversary Turntable ???

Absolutely Bluesy! I have uploaded several in my YouTube channel and more recently I had to upload two to my newly re-opened Vimeo account because they were banned on YouTube.

But is it ok to share those turntable playback videos on this forum? I thought Stereo2Go was mostly a tape deck and portables forum? Perhaps I’ve got this wrong and there may be a different thread or section where I can share turntable videos! I better take a look!

But in the meantime please visit my Let There Be Sound channel on YouTube to scan all my latest videos:

    https://www.youtube.com/user/ltbsinc

And here are the two latest on my Vimeo channel:

    Cheers!

I just posted a bunch of my latest videos in another section of this forum: Other Audio Gear -> Home Audio Gear Chat Area.

Please go check them out there as well and comment as you deem necessary. I think I posted between 5 and 6 individual links including the two on Vimeo!

    Enjoy!
