I love this Walkman, mine has a broken component that I wish to repair with a desoldering station one day (transformer T301) but otherwise I really like its sound.

I loved that movie and I'm pretty sure I have that Walkman. capStan, let me know if you know Inky Ragnusson over there, I might be messing up the spelling but if you know him.....you know him....

stereomecha99, are you looking for a desoldering station or is it just a project in cue? I use a syringe style vacuum or wick, both work pretty good, I have a feeling you've used both but I'm not sure what a desoldering station is.

Fresh desolder wick is great (once opened it looses its effectiveness after a couple of years) A desolder station is similar to a syringe style desolderer but with a heated tip and using a Vacuum pump.

A professional tool. Twenty five years ago, before everything started being made in China a friend who was a TV repair man, had a side business making them using car air-horn pumps.

Thanks Longman, I've never seen those stations before, that would be a huge time-saver. I also didn't know wick went bad, that's good to know.

Hi Mister X, yes for a long time I used desoldering braid and one of those hand pumps but not too long ago I saw a video of a man replacing every cap on a board in just shy of 10 minutes (really quite amazing stuff) and since then I've been trying to find a station... Could just order one from online but oh well

I want one bad, all this time I've been fighting with braid and my little hand held pump....

Don't you feel special for having a better walkman than Ben Stiller's character? :D

I have a WM-FX407 — just the same as an FX403, but with Mega Bass and with Dolby. Interesting, I thought that the FX403 had Mega Bass and the FX401 did not. Need to look the user/service manuals for details.

It is all plastic and chunky, but is not as bad as one might think.
