I currently bought a Panasonic RQ-JA155 from a local thrift shop. I got for $20 converted. It was working when theu tested it. When I got home, I did notice that the sound was a bit muffled and wavy on the high notes. This is my second unit. I was expecting it to be better than my first Sony Walkman WM-FX271, but the latter sounded better in terms of clarity. Is there a possible problem with the unit I bought? Tried cleaning the rollers and tape head already.
If it works a bit, it is already a small miracle! Wobbly sound most probably from the belt, it has to be exchanged for the fresh/new one. With Panasonics this is usually a bit more difficult than with other models, but doable
Was able to fix it by adjusting azimuth. However, there are still times when I get wobbly sound in high region. Will probably need to replace the belt.
