I bought for £10 an Alba Model Cp705 to see what it was like. Yes it is a basic model but the volume is full on and it has a very nice sound to it which has surprised me. The only trouble was the Duracell batteries would not fit and I managed to break a small piece off the battery lid in the corner while trying to remove one of the batteries as I thought the lid was fixed to the unit.I shall look for another one but if anyone else has one, along with Derek who started this topic , perhaps they could make a comment as I only had the volume on quite low and it was powerful enough It would be a nice cheaply priced starter for anyone just starting out.
Hi Philip. I had a similar problem with energiser batteries. The energiser batteries would not work in one of my mini-disc players but the Duracell batteries worked just fine. Either the dimensions of the energiser were fractionally smaller or there was a contact problem. Still the same now. Not quite the same problem but similar.
