Wondered if you can help me find a 1980/81 manufactured box I used to use:

All I remember is that it was expensive/high end, silver with chrome bezels, inch long vertical servo assisted cassette buttons, LED VU's, single tape with metal setting, single aerial, bass and treble knobs and 'Dobly'.

What do you think are my chances of finding it?

General Electric and Radio Shack had those long tape buttons. GE had analog VU's and chrome bezels, RS had LED's and grilled speakers.

Thanks for the reply, really appreciated. We're close but not there yet - the box had silver/grey woofers if that makes a difficult task any easier, thanks again:)

Better to check OfferUp or Facebook Marketplace.
Ebay sellers ask too much for those.

It all depends on how desperate Dayv is for one. It isn't really a Grail like a GF777, so if it is the only box Dayv wants to buy he might be prepared to pay a lot.
I have said before how I had a saved search going for four years before an example of the Amerex cassette recorder I had in 1976 came up on Ebay. Luckily it only cost about £20, the same as when new. I clicked "Buy it Now" as soon as I saw it and then paid the seller a bit extra for Royal Mail delivery rather than some dodgy courier.

p.s It might even be worth trying a want to buy here.

Thanks for the replies, I've been searching for this box in the UK for a while - there have been no listings, there are some in the US but postage will be costly/risky. So I'm going to bide my time and hope one comes up - knowing which model really helps:)

Just seen this post. I have a Panasonic RX-5250 in better than average condition, have been thinking about listing it on ebay for a while but reluctant to do so due to dodgy bidders and postage/breakage hassles.
I live near Swansea so about 120miles from you if you are interested, i will not post.
