Wow, brilliant! This is the only English ad I've ever seen for this model. Also I never knew that AIE was the name of the manufacturer.
I was surprised to see it on the wikiboombox, was that yours? It looks really beefy and they spent some time with the design. Was AIE a brand or a private label manufacturer? I think the price is Austrialian, do they have dollars there?
I always thought the brand was Williamsons and the manufacturer was some generic no-name factory in Hong Kong. But according to that article, Asia International Electronics is the company name. It says "Made in the traditions of AIE's hifi stereo amplifiers and sound equipment." Yes the one on wiki is one. Got it from Germany. It's a very heavy unit, sounds very warm and spatial. The rear speaker is straight out of a car, 6x9 inches. Everything's very tightly packed.
I just saw your old thread in the forum reader, that car speaker is sweet, you know the designers were having fun with portables like this.
1978 makes sense because companies still thought they needed to pack as much as possible into their models. This was before feature content went downhill.
when you say warm Reli is it warmer than the m70, i have had 2 and to me they sound cold, hence i never use it
M70's need to be cranked up to get any "warmth" So yes this Willaimsons is a lot warmer than an M70 at low volume levels, but if you increase the volume you'll need to turn the bass down because it's just overkill and starts distorting.
