I've got the PC-11 and really enjoy the build quality and sound, there's an article posted in the boombox archaeology thread where the store manager said JVC sold well due to it's quality perception. If you like the suitcase models, like I do, this also had a case option, check this out.
WOW the best i can do is a boxed pc5 but that is damn impressive mr x//i wonder if it' any louder than the 5....i know it has tweeters unlike the 5
Sorry for the confusion, the boxed version above is the PC-5, the PC-11 (not pictured) that I own has a big EQ in the middle.
Enjoyed reading this and came across this listing, thought you might like it, although it’s pretty over the top: https://www.kijiji.ca/v-ipod-mp3-pl...p_ios&utm_medium=social&utm_source=ios_social
I have a pic here of a PC-6 that I came across in a mid century modern furniture store! They sold it to me for $75cdn, so quite a good deal for a rare one!
Just saw this post. Did you replace the belt in the tuner for the weight? That is often melted/broken on these units. The weight gives the tuning a very expensive feel.
I have just restored two PC-5s today. In one of the tuners belt was melted, spent 2 hours washing and cleaning the mess. The kevlar thread was cleaned two, works as new now. In the secont tuner the belt was missing. So both replaced, and yes, the weight in tuning is a nice touch. ) Unfortunately both compos are missing back panel that covers the wire mesh. Anyone happens to sell these? ))
Good day ! Just acquired a Victor PC-5 ( Japan version ) and I'm very happy with the sound quality , definitely up there with my better 3 piece boombox. The unique sound of it's loudness feature stands out, with very deep bass , not the bloated midbass type sound on most amps. With that, I am just curious , what power amp ic (PART NO. ) was used in this unit. Sir @nickeccles or @Radio Raheem can you chime in here. It seems very powerful for a 14 watts / channel rms rating. I think it's more powerful than my Sanyo C9 with almost same watts rating. Also, I might stock on this power ic for future use. Oh , by the way, is it safe to use 4 ohms speakers for the PC-5. No specific ohms indicated on the manual but specs only shows 6 ohms power rating.
https://orronoco.blogspot.com/2020/04/jvc-pc-5-real-mini-component-audio.html I just found this great blog on the PC-5 and found the answer to my power ic part question. It uses a pair of IC -AN 7156N and is rated at 5.5 watts x 2 ch at 4 ohms . Quite a low wattage rating but sound powerful !
