    Hello,
I've been trying to get the microcassette deck to work in my Aiwa CS-M but I haven't had any luck with the belts. I got the pinch roller to spin but not the reels - the problem is that the pulley underneath the smaller flywheel, which is supposed to drive the belt, doesn't make the belt spin. The pulley is spinning but it's not moving the belt at all.

Have I put on that belt correctly?

Post a picture and hopefully you will get the right orientation for the belt. Its hard to tell you without knowing how you placed the belt

Only that belt is the problem.

Can you rotate these pulleys with your fingers? what do they do? is your belt the proper tension? Nice to have a close-up picture but can you take a over view picture of the same thing so we can get a orientation view of what we are looking at in the close up view? are the pulleys clean and or also is your belt too clean as well as lube over-sprayed will give the same issue's I know as I have learned this :)

That brass pulley underneath, where the belt touches it, is supposed to drive the right reel of the tape mechanism. It rotates freely, there's nothing blocking it, the belt is there very tight, I've put on a 30mm one I think. The pulley is clean, the belt too. There's no oil sprayed anywhere. But the belt just doesn't want to get moved by that pulley - it's clearly touching it as it vibrates when I press play, but that's all it does.

OK - does somebody finally solve this problem! I am at the same point like quaz30.... Today I downloaded the service manual with no result.
I can post it here but in my eyes it is not helpful. Please let me know if there is a way to get this done!

    What I donĀ“t understand:
    1. The brass Pully (red) is in two pieces (red big and small green) - even if the belt 3 touches the small (green) Pully it will not turn, because
    the two are not connected.
    2. The two reels are connected to right yellow and the blue Pully. The two yellow Pullys are on a different level (higher) than the blue one. So how can this work? How is the blue pully get involved in the whole thing...???

    Maybe someone had an idea!
    thanx

    Hello Pakko,
I was encountering the same issue as you on a recent acquisition, and decided to make an account here to share my findings.
I am asusming like me you pulled the red upper pully and flywheel to clean off old belts.
As it turns out there is a small gear and teflon washer underneath the sprung lever the red pully goes though. This is what powers the spindles.
When removing the red they came off the shaft and are now free range inside the mechanism. The blue pulley is a red herring and does not contribute to the drive.
