I'm 17y/o, really passionate about discman and CD players in general. I was lucky enough to buy a D-15 at 40EUR recently and I'd like to ask for some help from this forum, and of course helping the others if I could !
Welcome and great find! Half the fun for me is finding stuff. Your hitting a great time, CD's are really dropping in popularity which means units and CDs are pretty cheap right now. I predict in 5-10 years there will be a renewed interest in them just like Walkmans, of course some of the "classic" units are already getting popular.
Welcome aboard! This here is the only place where I can talk about my love for Discmans and recently we are seriously polluting S2G analog-lovers site with Discmans talk post your troubles, over the last few months I revived a few D-15 and may be able to help! Although right now I am struggling myself with ‘cold-dead’ D-150 which had been vandalized by its previous owner/tinkerer...
Welcome. You must be one of our youngest members. Mister X is right that even new CDs are a bargain these days with multi-disc compilations working out at under £1 a disc each. When I bought my first CD player over 30 years ago even second hand discs fetched about £7 each. If you are in Taiwan you are in the right place if you are interested in Electronics. I wonder how many members here have heard of TSMC. If you haveńt they are the worlds largest IC manufacturer.
Yay! I could use some good news! I'm extremely glad to find this forum alive because the one about discman repair on head-fi is basically dead...
Well thank you for helping me! I saw your reply on my question thread! It's quite often to see machines that don't work because they were tinkered too much...
Well I wish that I'm in Taiwan but I'm studying in France... And you're definitely right that parts are so easy to find and I took it for granted haha. A lot of people know TSMC! I went to one of their site during a summer camp about semi-conductors, it was amazing!
I work in what used to be a Philips Semiconductor factory; in fact the one where they designed and made Philips first CD player ICs. It is ironic that back in the 1980s it was Philips teaching TSMC how to make ICs. https://www.electronicsweekly.com/b...risms/the-best-semiconductor-investm-2008-08/
