My name is Kenneth from Canada. Found this site to hopefully restore my Sony WM-609 to working order.

Basically need some idea to route the elastic band. Any materials that I can learn from is appreciated.

    Thanks.

Hello and welcome, have you tried it this way?

    Thanks for the reply.

I tried the suggested but then I saw 2 issues: 1. The black wheel isn't turning and 2. The machine keeps running and wouldn't respond to stop. I honestly think I have more issues than routing the belt back in place.

I'm just guessing and don't have this model but I don't think the black gear is not meant to turn with the belt, it looks like it lifts the head into place from the gearing underneath the panel. Silver965's diagram would also have the hubs rotating in opposite directions.

Hi the hubs must turn in the opposite direction to drag the tape in one direction (side A) and in the other (side B) when pressing autoreverse

Hi, the routing is correct. I found video of a running unit and confirmed it. The problem is the more electronic in the sense that the head assembly is not moving to make contact with the tape when play. This is a more serious problem than the belt.

    Thanks.
