Rummaging through my piles of clutter to ki... Erm try to repair while pointing a camcorder at it, and dug out an EX501 that's painfully slow. Or, if I hold something conductive to the turny bit of the speed controller, chipmunkishly fast. Turning the controller itself makes no useful difference. I've found a schematic, looks like there's a thermistor in the circuit, then a chip. Anyone any guesses if either of these could be the fault? Edit to add - Found another one of these, also speeds up when grounding the speed controller through my fingers. So am definitely thinking there's a fried whatsithingy on the speed control circuit. Probably on the "Just desolder all the important stuff to get access" side...
Can you solder a wire to ground, or does that make it too fast? I have a similar issue (albeit on a terrible personal stereo)
