Anybody seen this one before? Is it a Philips Rebadge? I don't remember a Portable CD Player with a radio, is this the only one? There's no model number on the ad, from 1990

The Power Cd has its own Wikipedia page
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PowerCD

I have spent the last 20 minutes looking for the model above but without success.
Portable CD players were a bit of a rarity back then with both the Gratten and Argos Catalogues only featuring a single Sony one.

A friend has just pointed out how similar the second unit looks to one of the Kodak Photo CD Player

    https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Kodak_photocd_hg.jpg

Since one of Philips CDi capability's was to display Photo CDs a link isn't surprising.
I recall a different friend getting his photos transferred to PhotoCD. At the time it seemed miraculous that on a photo of a house you could zoom in enough to see the individual elements on its TV aerial.

Didn't you have to go to a store to get the photos transferred?

It is radio+version of Philips AZ6892 in the OP: Philips AZ6897. Beautiful Discman from 1991, but unfortunately they all dead by now: aluminum in RCD2 lasers got bad. I had to buy 4 or 5 so that Kaosuncd.com could revive one for me:

Realistic CD3350, on the other hand (re-badged Citizen CBM 50CP) is almost as pretty, all metal (AZ6892 is plastic with metal bottom) and mostly survived thru the ages :)

That is a handsome design. I like brown platter color, or is it a CD? But calling it "just a little larger than the compact discs it plays" is borderline false advertising. :loldiag:

    thanks for that!
I now know the part number AZ6897, thanks for Jorge.
Its now on my Ebay watch list.

The one I have ended up in the bin unfortunatley due to it eventually failed to read discs.
I wouldnt care now if it worked or not, just in reasonable condition.

As a beautiful paperweight this one off eBay should work:

Magnavox AZ 6897 Portable CD Player

you can see from the photo that laser aluminum is corroded, as in all 5-7 Philips RCD2 lasers I bought while hoping for a Miracle. Looks like 'snowflakes' but once you open her up, you see the extent of damage from these aluminum oxides:

I think it was @Mister X who told me the correct term for this nastiness, but I forgot what it is

It wasn't me but holy crap is that nasty, I wonder why the Al would corrode like that, maybe they used two different metals and got some galvanic corrosion?

I have added that to my watch list, while I try to figure out the import duty I`ll pay.. as thats a great price!
As for corrosion - I`m used to cleaning that up, as in my introduction, I`m part of the team at the Retro Computer Museum, and I have to repair many old computers that have had battery corrosion (mostly Amigas)
