Kent, you have a ton of beautiful equipment, do you sell it or use it for projects, or are you a mega-collector? Do you get into other areas, I imagine with all the albums you have some nice full-size audio components, it's hard not to have other pieces when you like to listen to music.

I just collect them.I am a diehard rock and jazz fan.In fact, I am a media collector, I have a lot of collection of various media, such as records, cassettes, reel to reel,DCC,MD,CD and LD.I also like 70‘s and 80's audio equipment,I think that era was the golden age of music fans.

I need a CDP-101 in my life one-day! You have a truly wonderful collection that I have to admit I'd love to own myself!

I'm the same way but most of my equipment is from people that didn't like having the old technology or just wanted a nice Bose System that takes up a fraction of the space. Your collection is so nice I could easily see a traveling exhibit over here since it covers all of the personal cassette players and they are coming back in "nostagic" style now. I'm hoping you have some microcassette players and they are in cue for us.

Do you mean the CD207 ?
If so some information about that mains only machine.

Back when I decided I wanted my first CD player back in 1989 I looked through the adverts in What HiFi and the CD207 was the only player available new for under £100 (a whole penny less). As it was a colleague had just upgraded and he sold me his Hitachi CD Player for £60. I have sometimes wondered whether the Philips would have been a better choice. I got quite a few years use out of the Hitachi but when I bought a Philips CDi it was the equivalent of taking my speakers out from behind curtains.

That is like the one I had. Bought "new" boxed with a FMV cartridge for about £60 from a firm that specialised in customer returns before the days of Ebay. I actually sold it for as profit quite a few years later. I also had the Top Loading one looking a bit like a CD207 for a while. I never had any decent CDi games though :iconconfused:

This is an interesting Chicago Tribute article from 1986 stating that Sanyo portable CD Players were manufactured by Sony.

    https://www.chicagotribune.com/news/ct-xpm-1986-05-23-8602070021-story.html

Back in the late 80's I remember a lot of people on the streets of Hong Kong had the Sony D-88 Discman to play CD Singles with. My CDP-557ESD/707ESD had a sticker (before I peeled it off) promoting the 8cm CD compatibility with its newly designed tray.

The Denon PCDPs had the same IR remote as my old 15" Hitachi TV lol!

Some lovely tech on here. Great collections. I mostly have Walkmans and Tape decks but I've recently taken more on an interest in Discmans/PCDs. I have these two so far, a Marantz PCD 520 and a Fisher PCD-100. The Marantz is great and sounds almost as good as my Cambridge Audio CXC when hooked up to my amp :)

@TK421 unless you get bitten by a collector's bug, you can stop here and now. Marantz, re-badged Philips, is one of the best-sounding Discmans ever made. Nothing special about Fisher sound, as you would expect from a 14-bit DAC, but it looks like a million bucks and even @kent might find it difficult to get it boxed and mint ;)

Now that is some very Impressive collection.
Probably the most complete I've personally ever seen.
So what would be your top 5 list (building quality and sound altogether?

And i'm curious about the Philips models, which ones arme really worth and how do they compare to top Sony's or the likes ?
