So as in title, i have small problem with motor in my tps l2. When walkman is turned on, time to time it squeaks as hell and music is slowing down. It can take 2 up to 20 seconds. After that it works perfectly and after bit of time it appears again. I looked at it while it's running and it looks like rotating part is pushed out of rest of motor while its squeaks, so maybe its worn out sleeve? Its happening with and without belt on. Its appears randomly no matter if i shake it or it's in steady position. Is there any source to get new one or used? Best if in EU Model number is: MNF-1600F
Hello Buleczka If you still searching for this motor I have one, it’s not new but it works well. Contact me if you are interested. I live I France. Greetings Boris
It may need some lubrication, here's some vintage articles I've posted in the past, this thread has a few pages on the motors alone. http://stereo2go.com/forums/threads/servicing-cassette-decks-electronics-australia-1986.4711/ Some more servicing information http://stereo2go.com/forums/threads/audiocassette-recorder-adjustment.5191/ http://stereo2go.com/forums/threads/how-to-service-cassette-decks.4777/ http://stereo2go.com/forums/threads...r-portables-from-radio-electronics-1982.4595/
These motors can be relatively easily disassembled if you want. Although that does carry with it some risk. The wires to FG coil are very thin and delicate. An alternative would be to take a donor motor from some much cheaper units. Some Sony cassette/micro-cassette recorders use the same motor.
I wouldn't take it apart unless absolutely necessary, if it's operational. My WM-3 had a similar intermittent squealing noise, but I was able to dissolve whatever was gunking it up by putting the motor in a shot glass (enough to cover the part where the rubber band attaches) with some rubbing alcohol for a day. Every few hours, I would twist it lightly with a pair of pliers and feel where the resistance was. Eventually, it freed up and quit squealing. It might take a few sessions of this.
Atm i ordered replacement one from one of users. After replacing it im gonna send broken one to somebody is repairing this sort of stuff, maybe it's fixable.
