Hi all, Longtime audio fan and record collector here! Very excited to have found this forum - it's taking me back to the early forum days, with lots of meaningful participation and information sharing. I have an all-Technics hifi, with a top of the line receiver (SA-5760) and tape deck (RS-676) from 1974. The tape deck is missing a bunch of great features that came along later, but it works great, is built to last a hundred years and sounds awesome to me. Doesn't support metal, but does have Dolby. I also have a mid-80s GE boombox (whih I found in a trash can in 2007 and has gotten hundreds of hours of use since then!) and a Walkman AMFM-only piece (it looks exactly like the one in the forum banner above, below "www.") I'm putting together a mixtape exchange next year and wanted to offer membership to anyone involved with the forum if they are interested in participating. It was a lot of fun last time around, 13 participants shared 65 tapes in 2019. They're ripped to MP3 and shared with other members on a password-protected website I put together. Have a look, and Email me if you want in! http://squabble.website Thanks, Leon
Welcome, most of the members are also into all kinds of audio equipment, feel free to share anything. I had to check out that tape deck, it's pretty advanced for 1974, it makes me wonder which deck had the first soft-touch. I was checking around your website, it looks like your a photographer, some of the members take amazing photos of their equipment, personally I stink at it but it's still fun. Audio equipment and cars always make great subjects.
Thank you!! Here is my stereo. All Technics / Panasonic (including the 2009 plasma) Yes, the logic board on the tape deck and its click-clack solenoids, very satisfying. DSC_9748 by L. Ferri posted Nov 1, 2020 at 12:59 PM
