    Hi everyone,
My Tascam DP-01 FX/CD has stopped working (sniff). The unit powers on (power light comes on) but no display or functions available. I’ve had it in storage for a while and lost the original power supply. I used a generic 12v power supply but that shouldn’t be a massive issue, right?
    Anyone have any ideas?

Check the amps it's pulling/providing? If the unit needs more amps than the generic power supply is capable of, you might have a problem there.

It looks like 2.5A with centre pin positive.

The replacement ones on the internet say output 12V - 4000mA whereas the one I have says 12V - 100mA so it's probably not getting enough juice.
    Sound right?

Yeah, that sounds just about right. Not enough mA, by a long shot.

The voltage has to be correct.... but the power supply can be, "over amped"... as long as it's not "under amped" so if you get one at 12v 5000mA (or 5A) you should be fine. - So 4000mA (milli-amp) is also 4A. (amp)
