I want to tell you a little about my Boombox life and where it started and where I picked back up. Long long time ago, (around 17) my mother purchased a Boombox for me. We didn’t have lots of money but I knew that it was quite the purchase. I was so totally pumped that I couldn’t wait to get it home. It being a Quasar GX3661. I know, by all means it wasn’t the best radio but it was my radio. And, I was a gift from my mom which made it the best radio to me. Used to take it everywhere. It was always with me. Shortly after owning it, I was driving in my car somewhere (can’t remember) and when I got to my destination, I left my radio in the car. Unfortunately, someone had seen my beautiful radio and decided that they wanted it. Yep, stole it right out of my car. They left the external speaker wires hanging out of the window and that was that. It was gone. My heart was broken. I didn’t know what to tell my mother and I know I let her down. I let myself down. So irresponsible of me. To this day (55 now) I continue to look for one. It’s the same model as the Panasonic or National
RX-5650. I would do pretty much anything to get another Quasar GX3661. Thanks for reading my story and hope to meet some pretty cool people on this site. See ya, Mike

what a coincidence - I was just reminiscing here about my own first bbox, and the little brother to your Quasar - Panasonic RX-5500 is blasting behind my back! :)

It's amazing what parts of life people remember, I used to work in a shady part of downtown when I turned 18. I left work before it got really bad but one day I forgot my boomer at work over the weekend. Monday morning it was gone and on top of it, my boss, who was a real piece of work, stiffed me on my paycheck for $600 which was huge back in the 80's.

Thankfully the only things I have had stolen from a car (to date) were a Karate Suit and Fire Extinguisher (on the same night), both which I replaced that week.
A friend did have her car radio stolen just a few months after I carefully fitted it for her which she was quite annoyed about especially as it was one of those removable ones which she forgot to remove and hide the day it got stolen.
