I'm just posting this because it's so freaking cool. I've got the little similar Epson, but this is much nicer looking. The Seiko MP-220 Microcomputer. For a young boy, just thinking of the possibilities with this and some James Bond Spyware was part of everyday life. Too bad most of this equipment was really expensive back then. https://www.ebay.com/itm/VINTAGE-Se...805740?hash=item2f54a8b62c:g:nlwAAOSwlKlgL8Tu
Here's a very interesting Yorx M2685A, known mostly for discount store crap, this looks like it could be a step above but it's local pickup only! https://www.ebay.com/itm/Yorx-M2685...303845281420?_trksid=p2385738.m4383.l4275.c10
Super rare AIWA RM-11C, maybe one of their smallest boomboxes, they've got that little guy with the removeable speaker that's a speaker bigger than a Walkman. I can't find any info on this model, I'd jump on it but it's made in China which usually indicates a pretty crappy build for this era. Some of the last AIWAs (with the upper-case logo) before Sony took full ownership were pretty basic, it's hard to tell but the design looks low budget but it might be a sleeper. I've got an HS-G360 that has the same style buttons, made in Singapore that looks like it has a similar light-body design, it looks good up on the shelf but doesn't compare to earlier models. https://www.ebay.com/itm/AIWA-Rm-11...560048?hash=item23ef6a0cb0:g:1lAAAOSwymhgMwiW
Pioneer PP-203 Tape Cleaning Kit, this is for the true collector to put next to that Centrex Boombox but it looks like the cleaning fluid is missing. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Pioneer-Ma...23j4|ampid:PL_CLK|clp:2047675&epid=4037632674
I've been watching this beauty, this is right up my alley, so nice. It looks like there's a little dent above the screen but everything else looks like it's out of a science fiction movie. The Sanyo MTC50 Boombox TV from 1981, one of the last real TV boomboxes from the big guys before the market was flooded by Emerson. https://www.ebay.com/itm/264961453600?&ul_noapp=true&autorefresh=true
That stretches the definition of Boombox. This one doesn't https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vintage-...775992?hash=item42291f9078:g:tIgAAOSwig9gC~ZF
Marantz SA-230 Amplifier for your car stereo system. Silly money, yep but this is only one of a handful I've seen over the last 10 years on Ebay. These have the cool brushed panel held on with some beefy bolts and the Marantz Script. These look cool even sitting on a shelf. It drives me nuts that the bolts aren't orientated identical and the bass and treble aren't at 12 o'clock, plus it could use some cleaning. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-80...860093?hash=item46c205a33d:g:H9UAAOSw-iFgO7G-
The Sanyo looks like they threw the components at the engineers and said make this a portable boombox, a little disorientated but it still has the same parts as a boombox. The Sony FX-414 is odd as well but it's a killer boombox.
From the Great White North, the Grundig Party Center 800 (made by Philips). I don't know the quality but they are neat looking and somewhat rare around here. https://www.canuckaudiomart.com/det...enter-800-studio-line-boombox/images/3125129/
I have one of those Yorx M2685. I got it because the lights remind me of the original Battlestar Gallactica!
The Sanyo looks as if it was designed by the same team that designed this, maybe using some of the same parts. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VINTAGE-...846320?hash=item46bf3843b0:g:4lkAAOSwSyJfWx40
Any idea who made it Reli or was contracted out to Taiwan or Hong Kong? It looks pretty cool with all of those lights, and LED readout on top of it. For some reason it reminds me of a Curtis Mathis TV.
Amazingly, it was made in Japan. The controls feel nice, but it's nearly empty inside. Probably only has 10-15 watts per channel.
Wow, look at this beast, 36" wide! The Philip 8958 https://www.ebay.com/itm/Ultra-Rare...150423?hash=item28a6dc5917:g:pmMAAOSwF6FgAlZM
Who knew MURA made boomboxes, they had to portable radios but this is a new one. It kind of looks like one of the Discolites, the MURA MCS-7 https://www.ebay.com/itm/VINTAGE-RA...449154?hash=item3b55329682:g:YUkAAOSwI4pf~oW2
Another side by side by side, the Panasonic RX-CD70 https://www.ebay.com/itm/Panasonic-...236522?hash=item1cfaf1d32a:g:8-EAAOSwXxNgOGzb
Yorx sold mostly junk when I was a kid but this one looks kind of interesting, unfortunately they couldn't keep it simple and had to add the fake cassette door to the front. The unit is similar to some of the early models that had horizontal loading similar to a car tape deck. For the collector, this is one of the oddballs, too bad it's not the Pioneer, that one is pretty cool. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Working-80...022406?hash=item28a4780b06:g:eDUAAOSw4h1f1noY
Another AKA, The Luxor Type 110 9140 (Sanyo M-V40), super nice because it's white, the Sanyo Version is either red or silver. These are made of shiny plastic that looks cheap but they really pull it off and are pretty cool looking up close. The Luxor is going for big money, who knows there might not be a lot around. https://www.ebay.de/itm/BOOMBOX-LUX...ic&brand=SANYO&_trksid=p2047675.c100036.m2109
Vintage Zippo Lighter? It sure looks like a big ole AIWA, I wonder what year the lighter is from. https://www.ebay.com/itm/BOOMBOX-HI...818158?hash=item264ab0312e:g:uT0AAOSwKIFfkHCN
This seems like a pretty good deal for an entire Hitachi Lo-D Stereo System, around $700 USD shipped but I'd really make sure what they are selling and if shipping is correct. Don't forget you will need a 100v-120v transformer, a good one on Amazon is $110 and you might need more than one. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Hitachi-Lo...955985?hash=item1ab55d8a11:g:IVgAAOSw7pxgP8Aa
