Hi all, I have 12 boomboxes whose tape decks don't work. I haven't even started looking into fixing them yet and realize that in a lot of the cases I will probably be looking at belt replacement. Anyone have any good information about where to get model specific parts or any YouTube videos or channels that are helpful in diagnosing and fixing tape deck issues? Thanks in advance!

95% of my stuff only needs new belts, after cleaning all of the controls, some are a little more roached and might need extensive work but I'm not counting them. Now a days a parts box is about the only place to get parts but every once in a while you might get lucky, I think "encompass" sells a few different parts but most seem to be backordered.

My Mate Vince does a great job fixing equipment, his approach is from a guy with some skills, but not an expert. Get a multimeter with a continuity checker and you can fix just about anything. He has several Walkmans and a few boomboxes he's worked on.

I've posted a few articles in the tech section with basic but necessary work that should be done. There's a few more down there, you might have to go down a few pages.

Good luck, take photos and use zip-lock bags so you don't lose anything or forget how to put it back together.

Excellent, thank you! I'm pretty handy and not afraid to open things up and take them apart I just need a little nudge in the right direction and to do some research before I dig into it

Mister X, I just remembered a website called turntableneedles.com that I've used in the past for record players. I just revisited it and it looks to be a GREAT place for parts for boomboxes as well, individual belts, belt kits, technical manuals and diagrams, cleaners, you name it and it has a really nice search engine with all the makes and models
