    Hello,

So my first Walkman in my collection is a fairly well kept 102. Unit was working, although belt was stretched, so I've ordered a new one.

When I got it the battery light was fairly dim and uneven, i found that if i pressed on the battery compartment it would stop doing it and the unit would spin.

I decided to disassemble it and check it over. Took the two screws out of the mainboard and lifted it, all appeared ok. But the mainboard back on and no I have no power, nada. I have check all ribbon cables and leads and everything looks ok, I'm just wondering if me messing with the cogs had put something out of alignment. Tried to find a service manual but no luck. Does anyone have any ideas as to why it would stop working coincidentally with me lifting the board?

    Many thanks in advance,

I would advise using a multimeter to ensure power is being drawn from the battery compartment, simple continuity. I think that if the battery compartment was bad before then that’s probably still the problem. However if it isnt, keep probing the traces, ribbons, and wired.

Thanks for that, will have a try at the weekend. Going to wait until new belt arrives then give it a check over with the MM
