Aiwa HS-PX410 volume difference between L & R channel

    Hello,

    i was listening some tapes and i noticed volume is bit lower than right so i checked it with osciloscope and here are the results.

    first channel signal is lower than second channe.l it is more than 50% difference.

    can anybody confirm this is due to the problem with walkman (probably caps, signal issue...etc ) not the azimuth missalignment?

    another problem? iz this fluctuating azimuth?

    Depending on what test frequency have you used, the problem can be different. Levels checks are usually done at a frequency of 315Hz, 330Hz or 400Hz. Azimuth checks/adjustements are done at 6.3kHz, 8kHz or 10kHz.
    However, given the Dolby levels are not adjustable on this particular device, we can exclude a misadjustment as the potential problem.
    As for azimuth, keep in mind that you will never get both levels to be perfectly equal. In my opinion, observing the pattern in XY mode is more relevant, because you can see the phase between the 2 channels more clearly.
    The service manual of this device indicates azimuth should be done with an 8kHz test tape (must be recorded on a mono recorder) and signals must have maximum aplitude and also be in phase.

    In your pictures first is a level test and second azimuth ? If so, the signals look to be in phase, so the adjustment is correct if that's the azimuth.

    10khz was used. i also assume it is capacitor problem. thank you will try to replace them
