Today work on a small project for my deck, fixing Led strip to illuminate the tape compartment background. I always find trouble working on the compartment due to lack of lighting and also difficult to see inside while playing the tape. After study for awhile I managed to find the right place to mount the led strip without obstructing the tape insert and eject and lucky enough the space is just nice with no or little room of clearance..

Now you just have to work out where to put the rest of the length you bought :nodding:

Of course the nice thing about LEDs is that by my calculations that is drawing 1.3W

Why not RGB? :loldiag:. Might do the same on my Sony TC-K71. The bulb is very weak.

    LED in the Cassette mechanism:

Ken80s: that was a pretty creative idea, using LED externally to light the cassette! Are you still happy? Was it too much?

Buzbox: my Sony TC-K71 is pretty dim, I can't see the cassette in operation either, backlight is so dim, I'm looking at options to brighten backlight, but this is a step above that: did you try this? Wonder if it would mess up any sensors?

that looks great in your unit! old forum didn't have likes, but it looks great! both radio dial and cassette mechanism! You can actually see and appreciate!
the warm white vs bright white is good idea. DC, and no external resistors needed?
    thanks for the example!

It is warm white, not bright white. Warm white goes well with the retro machines. Bright (bluish) white is a no no for me.

The LED strip came in sections of 3 LEDs + a SMD Resistor for 12V operation. Each section of 3LEDs + Resistor can be cut and used independently on 12V.
So I used one section for the cassette door and another section for VU + Dial.
