Yes, it was the top of the range of Aiwa personal stereo's back in the 90’s and cost £250 new. I had one also the HS-JX101, HS-JX505 and HS-JX707.
Nice units, but the recording is terrible so don’t even bother recording with it.

It will probably need a service, i.e at least a new belt. Give it a try anyway and see how you get on, i bet the rechargeable is probably dead but you can just use AAA. Enjoy.

P.S. If you are not going to use it, what is the point in having it?

I don't know if there are anymore in this great of condition. I'd hate to do anything to it.

Sadly all the caps will more than likely need replacing and belts

was a mid end walkman but still quite nice...i agree with toocool no point in having it if you are not going to use it

What's the repair cost on all of that? I guess I do have to pop a cassette in and see if I need repairs first.

I may just sell on Ebay and it go to someone who can appreciate it and use it. That's a huge possibility.

So I ended up testing the item everything works but the sound is very little to no sound. For the cassette and radio. Anyone have an idea what needs to be replaced?

I've got a lot I don't use, in fact I just counted 34 on one little shelf in my office, and there's a lot more shelves in here.

I think someone was selling these NOS just a couple years ago, they had a bunch of them.
