Awesome! Can you tell us about the sound? I think this is the most sought over and least available set, so many of us are eager to hear about
it's presentation.

 

The HP-V9 sound is definitely magical. It's very clear and spacious. Not so boomy like MDR-E484. With sponge is even better sounding like HD600. Aiwa electronics and their headphones sound very natural. If you can find this model at acceptable price I strongly recommend to do so. You will not regret it.

Sound is very dependable of pads. If is original is ok, but if is not sound is altered.

It's interesting, I had bad experiences with the CD6. The M55 smokes it, also the M66, and the Aiwa HP-X10. The CD5 too, as these Hair Pro series sounded thin
next to the M series.

I am very lucky to have one in NOS condition, it sounds very good. More to the lows than the M55, but easier to drive, which is strange but positive.

 

A question also: where did you get such paddings? Seems to be good for the CD and M series!

I am curious, did you do the mod which is recommended with the MDR-605s? I am about to search for one, because if it is true, the mod makes it WAY better.

Wow, nice find! Never seen a custom sony plugged E472. I'll get back here if/when I see one for sure

 

It is not custom, more Sony units use it. Like the remote that was paired with the WM-DX100.

 

But that come with e565 and i pretty sure around that era sony doesn't manufacture e472 anymore

And most e472 with inline control I met usually got hard soldered with the remote rather than using plug like this one.

 

I now understand what you mean: the combi of the plug and specific earphones is rare indeed.
I really don’t like the fit of the e565 anyway, usually take the 3.5mm adapter and use it with IEMs.

 

There even an adapter to convert that jack to 3.5mm???Can I have link to purchase it

 

By custom, I mean that plug is custom as only Sony used it (as far as I am concerned). You can find such adapters that changes it to 3.5, but those are not single adapters, rather cables. They came with certain models, for example E565 and E747 versions as I am aware of.
