Sony WM-DD9 forward playback is noisy from the tape mech

Hi,

My DD9 playback sounds great in forward and reverse.

FF and REW both work fine

In forward playback I can hear like a ticking almost grinding noise from the tape mechanism.
It is not too loud but reverse playback is alot quieter.

You started 4 threads related to the same DD9 in Chat and Tech Talk, right?
Perhaps it is an idea to use one of these threads as main restore thread, and use that for all the questions you have.

 

For those who are actually interested, the issue was the alignment of the Fwd capstan motor. The noise is gone after realigning it.
