Ok. Well that serial number if on a D6C would have had the V shaped or pointy head. Your 35711 head is probably better termed a curved or convex head. It's all semantics. As far as I have researched no WM-D6C units with 6 digit SN's came with this v shaped head. Somewhere in the build cycle Sony began using these rounded heads on the D6C units. What must enthusiasts agree on though is the v shaped earlier heads had better wear properties. This may be due to the smaller surface area in direct contact with the tape surface. The sound quality is regarded as superior also but that is largely anecdotal from what I have found. As mentioned earlier it's hard to blind test and select an early D6C from an early 6 digit SN D6C on the basis of listening alone

    Hi all,
I'm using my D6C a little bit more these days, making new tapes for my Bboxes... It records better than my TC-D5M who has now some little W&F : Time to service the D5 and change its belts has come again (last time was in 2013...).
That D6 Walkman is really an amazing little jewel !!!!! :delighted:

Anyone know how to repair battery damage on a wm-d6? I got one for free from asking neighbours if they had anything to throw away :nwink:.
With power, it speeds up and no sound comes out; might need to replace chips inside?
It has green battery damage, it had the original SONY rechargeables inside until green corrosion.
What kind of damage should I be looking for?

Post some photos, sometimes you get lucky and the battery terminals need some wire-brushing. The headphone jack might need some new solder, what headphones are you testing it with? Some of the old headphone wires are very delicate and may have broken with age.
