My Dad had one of these! Great sounding mono radio cassette, reasonably compact but solid and very heavy!

I like the way they are comparing a six band (probably FM MW LW and three shortwave) radio and another radio with a three band radio cassette.
If the advert is from 1976 a Radio Cassette wasn't even that innovative by then. My Mother bought a Sanyo one back in 1973 when they were.

In the right upper corner it reads:

Your right! I have made a bit of a mistake there! I remember my Dad getting it but perhaps it was earlier than I thought. Quite a modern unit for 1972!

I will take back what I said about them not being innovative.

My Mother got her 1973 Sanyo M2400FG after seeing one that a Student Teacher who was working for had received as a twenty first birthday present. It had to be bought from a specialist audio store and cost her over a weeks wages. In fact I have just checked and in 1973 the men's average wage was £40..90 and a pint or beer was 13p. Later that year the same model was in the Selfridges Christmas Catalogue at £41.95

I was about to crop this but then found the "Gifts for an Entertaining Woman" title on the next page so amusing I decided to leave it. That is naïve. :lollegs: Also note the Stylophone bottom centre - as played by David Bowie on Space Oddity.

Longman that is brilliant! Pure gold! Rolf Harris used to advertise Stylophones but maybe the less said about that the better!
