I picked this up at a Sunday market for €17.
MisterX asked me to repost it here.
Lovely unit. All metallic. The sound is crystal clear.
Sears, Akai and Sanyo did clones of this model. This one is from 1979.
Well the amp was made in 1979 anyway. It's marked with that year.

    1980's Technics System

I bought this mini system a few months back at my local 2nd hand store - Pearl's. It was $50 CAD, less taxes. The operating manuals for all four separate components were included. I replaced the stylus on the cartridge, although the original one still had life left in it. I, also, thoroughly cleaned the tape path on the cassette deck. Components are comprised of:

    SL-D4 Direct Drive Linear-Tracking Turntable
    ST-8 FM/AM Stereo Tuner
    SU-5A Stereo Integrated Amplifier
    RS-4 Tape Deck

I, also, got ($15, less taxes) a pair of Toshiba SS-3747 2-way bass reflex speakers from the same store not long after I bought the Technics mini system.

A friend and workmate is going to buy the system from me as a Christmas gift for his daughter.

Is that one of the Technics systems where there are fold up connectors built into the top of each unit so they can connect without a mess of cables around the back ?
I had a similarly sized Technics cassette deck like that, but unfortunately my attempt at repairing it left it in a worse state than when I started,.

Conventional RCA cables for this particular Technics mini-system.

Here is an advert for the Sears version of the Tensai.

    $500 in 1981 is $1700 now.
    :noway:

They are a very good unit. I hooked up a bluetooth device to the phono input via a RIAA Inverse adapter.
There are only three inputs, one for tuner, tape and phono.
The amplifier is top notch. Very detailed sound with no distortion or hum. Surpasses any of the 90's Sony mini's I used to have.

IMG_7159.jpeg I must add a better pic when home, but here’s my bi-amped complete Aurex System 15, albeit with what I consider to be the superior D12 tape deck, ADRES unit, and AT-12 timer. I’ve been using this system since 2009 and love it! I collected several spares of everything when these units were more easy to come by a decade ago, and two of the D12 decks (I have 4) were brand new old stock, which were lucky finds. I also have a D15 deck which I need to service, and the amp and tuner from system 10, which was what I originally had back in 1982 when I bought my first mini system. The ST-S20 tuner is also part of the collection, and some SS-S12W Aurex Speakers which are mini in size but heavy as they have metal cases. Overall, I guess you can tell I’m an avid fan of the Aurex mini systems! My system is paired with vintage Mission 70 speakers, as I like the bright sound, a Revolver turntable with Linn LVX arm, and a creek CD43 MkII CD player.

The first Aurex 15 system was in 1981, it belonged to my father.
The turntable was a technics and the speakers an SS-12 later a B&W 220I.
However, the opportunity arose to buy one for me. I also bought system 10.
The Pioneer HPM 100 columns do the job, the turntable I use Pioneer PL-600 mk1, on system 10 a Pioneer PL-516 but I have the original turntable.

System 15 cd player, the Marantz CD 52 mk2 or AMC CD6 mk1

I use the Tascam US-200 interface as a source

I've never seen one here in person or for sale, I've found some AIWA, Sanyo/Sears and Hitachi but it takes a lot of hunting.

I don't know, maybe in the year 86/87.
I've never seen a brochure for this model
