Hello, I have started my restoration on my NW-701C. I already had a problem with the complementary battery which did not deliver the necessary voltage. The problem came from the 4V 1500 uF capacitor which was out of order. It's replaced and it works now. I also redid the headset remote control and changed the belt thanks to Marian I have a problem because I can't get the play, stop, fw and rw buttons to work. I have to use the headset remote to operate the walkman. Can you help me with this? Thanks in advance.
Hello and welcome if we are talking about WM 701c and the commands coming from the headphones work but the buttons on the walkman do not work it could be that the KEY LOCK is always active.. or rather that it is not deactivated by continuing to ground (GND) the SAFETY wire connected to pin 22 of ic701 ....Another problem could be the KEY OUT 1 connection (red) which travels on a flexible card in this case detached ...probably the welding of the flexible
Thank you for this explanation. Indeed it seems to me that the plastic of the micro switch is broken in two inside and that the left part remains on the blocked position. I have to glue it carefully to make only one piece and without disassembling it. I have to reassemble my walkman to check this. Otherwise I wanted to know if there is a tutorial to disassemble the nw-701c completely to make a complete cleaning of the device. Thanks for your help.
I have a question: Is the switch that locks the Walkman keys in two parts in the slide? Thank you in advance for your answers.
HI I can't tell if the switch is ok or not from the photo ..but you can try it...I would try to scrape the green paint on the two tracks and with a tester I would try to see if there is continuity ...... moving the switch to the two positions ... if you have continuity only on one position the switch is ok and the problem will be another ... if you always have continuity on any position of the switch .... and ko.

Here’s the best YouTube video I found for this. I have a couple of these units that need repair too so I appreciate the link above as well.
I just finished replacing the belt on one of my two 701C units. What a bitch! Difficult to open, even harder to close. But that door latch spring was the worst! No wonder I see these units on eBay where the door does not open. Look at the size of this thing!
