Hi , I’m Max from London UK.

This forum is a great resource which I much appreciate!

Working on my old Sony WM-D6, need some help regarding DC converter which is faulty.
Looked at threads here and found mine is a different earlier version so I think it’s worthwhile
to document it here for future reference.

Will appreciate help from anyone with knowledge/interest in this.

    Thanks

Welcome to the forum, sorry I can't help with the repairs although I was happy to resolder the sync button on my Xbox One Controller the other days, it was tiny but it works great now.

Hey Max, welcome to the forums. Perhaps post to the tech area and see if someone can help there. I know for a fact the gentleman in Italy that works on these machines is backed up for at least two years. I'm on the waiting list myself as I also have a WM-D6 that's in pieces. I've been in no hurry to get it going as I have a fully functional WM-D6C.

    Welcome. :)

Hello and welcome to the forum @maximin !

I suggest starting with checking the transformer first and make sure none of the windings are open.
Then start a new thread in the walkman Tech Talk section.
There I and other forum members can help you in fixing the DC-DC converter.

Looking at the D6 service manual, I notice there is only one version of the DC-DC converter schematic, which is the one identical to the D6C converter.
Given this, it's worth taking some pictures and drawing a schematic for this one as well, for future reference.
