Got recently this boombox from "Japan Only Party" - the Sanyo U4-W80 from 1987. I think it is quite unknown in Western world. Has 5-band equalizer, double auto reverse and a surround function. Without additional surround speakers it is just a "Stereo Wide" function. It came in quite good shape, only needed new belts and small cleaning. Now it runs again and has a pleasant sound, of course no deep bass.
I don't know how I missed this thread but that one is really neat. That would have been a great box for a student that wanted the latest in TV surround sound.
I just was given this model and it sounds excellent for a smaller unit Tape decks both play FWD and REV but not REW or FF on either.
I had to look it up, here's some more cutsheets found over on Twitter, this unit is pretty cool but super rare here, it looks like it came out in 1987.
Very hard to find, especially Sharp units designed for the domestic (Japanese) market. I have been searching for Sharp JC-C30 and JC-C50 manuals: not even a single hit for a manual to purchase, reference to a manual or instructions.
I love this! that little LCD in the middle sells it to me. Stuff like this just isn't made anymore. All of that chrome? Beauty. I'd also take that V2CD, so cool.
Mine works great except for FF and REW. I presume there will be a separate belt for that. Playback sounds great FWD and REV
