    Welcome.

Have you seen the Lasky's catalogue I posted
    https://stereo2go.com/forums/threads/1973-laskys-audio-catalogue.5997/
I bought that because Lasky's in Bristol was a shop I always liked to visit, not that I could afford much there.
Maybe a few blank tapes, once I had admired the latest Akai gear in the HiFi section, where the lighting was deliberately dim to emphasise the lights on the equipment.
However my first ever cassette recorder, an Amerex AC107 bought for about £20 in 1976 as my birthday present came from there.

When I finally could afford something decent I bought it from Richer Sounds https://www.richersounds.com/ back when they only had two shops, London, and Birmingham. The 200 mile drive was worth it to get the Akai system I had admired the previous year for half the original price.

What years were you there, and do you have any good stories? I do recall my boss changing his choice of TV there when they brought it out in three boxes: TV, stand, and Teletext decoder card "someone will come and fit it for you in the next month". In the past couple of years I have had the opportunity to chat to managers from Tandy, and Curry's "it all went downhill when we were bought out by Dixon's". I didn't realised Lasky's was bought out by Comet. I moved to Bournemouth and the nearest Lasky's was over in Poole then seemed to disappear shortly after that.

Here is another thread about retailers I started
    https://www.stereo2go.com/topic/ind...4451095096640630&board_oid=193392314111653340
I am still trying to remember the place I bought my Toshiba MSX computer back in 1984. Trying to imitate Comet they when called Saturn or something like that.
Not Tempo. Just five minutes walk from work is a place that was built as Tempo. Now it is a place selling overpriced Kitchens which never seems to have more than three cars in the car park. As others have commented a salesman there probably only needs to sell one kitchen a month to earn his salary.

Welcome to the forum! We had another employee from there sign up a few months ago. My buddies and I used to love going to the local electronics, computer and toy stores, the inventory would change monthly with the latest and greatest.

I joined Laskys when it opened on StMary's gate a flagship store on 3 levels with smaller sister shop in The Arndale Centre!.late seventies as recall with a staff of around 12 O progressed to hi fi manager after couple of years! We were always on forefront of top rated gear Mission Kef Wharfdale Technics Sony every Manufacturer under the sun! I spent all my early years in hi fi! And sold many celebs some top spec gear! Round the corner from Granada TV so many Corrie actors of note!..I sold an absolute fortune of equip when there! And we had knowledgeable staff throughout also sold Photography gear as well as all AV..one of the most thriving stores in its day!..I later moved to a sattelite store opening in Altrincham ches much smaller store but lotts of potential!? As an ASM...then sadly we found was to be Aquired by COMET PLC..Laskys faced funding problems in its own right?..so soon after the name changed as well as now selling Domestic Appliances!.an utter appalling company..in how run ? and fronted by a lot of brain dead management stale ideas and staff treatment lousy!...nearly as bad as Curry's...I stayed a while but moved on when saw writing on the wall financially and otherwise ..over 20 odd branches of Laskys be nice to know where many went ? Be great to hear through forum if poss!..

I just found some more Lasky's literature from the 1970s
    https://pinkfishmedia.net/forum/thr...world-of-audiotronics-1972-price-list.272948/
It is strange how the prices of audio and video gear never seems to go up. If anything prices seemed to go down.
On a different forum where people were complaining about shops having gone from Bournemouth town centre I recalled how in 1997 I went in the AV department of Beales department store and there was a crowd of people gawping at a Flatscreen TV showing the Apollo 13 film. Whether they were gawping at the huge 42" screen or the £9999 price tag I don't know. Beales must have been expecting to sell a few. I wonder what the profit margin was on one of those ?

I have posted this before but it seems to apply equally to the U.K.
