I've been sent this article published in Techweek magazine 1 year ago. I find the list interesting but I don't agree with it in many cases. What do you think? https://www.techweekmag.com/news/speakers/the-50-greatest-portable-cassette-players-ever-made/
The article should be titled 'Some Walkman' or 'eBay Queens'. I guess it's nice to see walkmans featured and lists are always opinionated e.g. best guitar solo's of all time....eeeuuugghh
...i wonder who returns next - TPR950 ? anyway, it's my duty to disagree to this "list" the 50 most important blooming portable stereo cassette player are CLONEMEN
I always find these types of articles very subjective, it's just someone's opinion and may not be yours. There are some lovely players in that list though, and as said, most of those are the high-end units and therefore expensive! I'd love to own some of those though if I'm honest.
having had over half of them i would say the most exotic was an aiwa 3000 the gold one. was nice too as mine was boxed it too had issues. if you wanted to record forget it the one i dislike the most is the sony tps l2 why because it goes for silly money and i doubt it cost much more than 30 new lads.....just like a certain boombox the jvc m90. is it worth 3 grand upwards no chance no box is imho......i'm lucky because i still have a victor m90 only 1 piece I own. why did i keep her because by todays standards she owes me nothing so i can live with that
I have 95% of that list and I'd say that there are important missings, like the WM-7, the Infinity (first one with dolby), the WM-EX-9, the HS-PX101, the HS-P05 (BTTF) and many more...
Ok, I'm creating my own list in this other thread. Please switch over there and help me creating the definitive list.
Great to see some welcome returns from those we have missed, AO great to see you back, and of couse Hugo, great to have you back. Its starting to feel like home around here again!
