I have an old Toshiba kt-as10 in need of a new belt. Was hoping someone on the forum could do this job for me as its a bit too technical for me. A few bits and pieces need desoldered.Ribbon cable/wires etc to access the belt. I am okay with the usual back off clean up belt replacement but this is a bit much for me. Any help would be greatly appreciated as it does work,The motor moves and the radio is fantastic.
Toshiba KT-AS10 required significant soldering technic. this is not an easy task. I highly recommend you to avoid it. Instead send it to a professional to do it for you. Once you open the unit you will see bunch of wires need to be de-soldered from main board and there is a ribbon cable as well that needs to be removed from main board to give you access to moving part.
Exactly!I have no intention of tackling it myself. thats why i was asking if there was a professional on the forum had the skillset to do this job for me. I would obviously pay them for their work.
This topic is helpful in finding technicians: https://stereo2go.com/forums/threads/best-repair-services-in-the-world.1336/#post-25016 You need to communicate with specific technician to assure they are still accepting repair service.
I dont mind paying but it was a very stand offish quote and said they might not be able to repair it. All it needs is a new belt! a couple of wires and a ribbon cable desoldered.
hate to say this but it could need many things new pinch rollers, caps, could even have cracked gears slipping clutches etc 2o years ago things were much easier to do but you never know these days....good luck i hope you get her repaired to her former glory
like i said before,”£250 and we might not be able to repair it?” it worked before the belt turned to mush. i would have rather send it to them and they could give it a once over for a nominal fee then give you a no obligation quote.
