    That's probably their best looking. German Audio Design was popping in the 70's but SABA doesn't seem to have any standouts. Unfortunately we never saw any cool German Audio Equipment in the USA, the stuff that was imported was usually really nice and expensive.

    the manufacturer SABA used to be a guarantee for quality. in the early radio years, they made top class components for radios and als built top rank receivers. after the war they first startet making standar telephones but soon began to make radios again, plus televisions. their „Schauinsland“ tv was worldwide one of the best you could buy. anyhow, besides making top rank consumer-electronics (also those huge cabinets with tv/radio/turntable combo) they made great reel-to-reel machines etc.
    well, as many other german makers, they ended up bankrupt in the late 70‘es and got sold to the french company Thompson. whatever you find from the 80‘es or later branded SABA is allready far-east stuff, aka‘s etc. just to mention, that their „Walkman“ Journey is not even a Cloneman (ok but very bulky) and their boomboxes are mostly from Panasonic and Crown

    Sometimes i thought, SABA was an Swedish company - i had confused this with SAAB...
    The C8300 looks like a GDR-product ( or the other way around ), and RCR 426 like a SHARP GF.

    those units are doing their daily job in our workshop:

    SABA MI-212, MT-201 and CD-262

    quite solid built stuff, i got them for free including speakers, they were meant to be thrown away (!) IMG_2083.jpeg

    Where are those made? What is PILOT? Why are there two FM buttons?

    If you look closer, you can see, one of the buttons is rotating for fine tuning ( the middle of the meter is best ), the other is on/off. The Pilot button starts the programming.

    to tell you the truth: as long as those units are there, i switch‘em on in the morning and off in the evening, sometimes itune in another station, but never ever bothered to find out, how to program station. i just admired this Lego-brick design huge pile of „men‘s- buttons“ on the right side. buttons, you never use, but could use, that‘s why they‘re there :worship:

    I think, i have handled it exactly the same way after once had trying to program. ;-))) And, it`s so bad, that FM will be cancelled , shutted off in the next years.

    I've never seen one but the last one looks like a Hitachi to me. The quality looks nice but you never know.
