For what looks to be an entry-level player, this is kind of nice looking. The three station settings is also interesting, back in the 80's, I listened to over 13 stations locally. From Russia with love! https://www.ebay.com/itm/285491220817?
It's no secret I love the microcassette, especially with a radio! Here's a dirt-cheap Olympus R905 with the RA1 Tuner, good luck finding the RA2, never seen one for sale over here. https://www.ebay.com/itm/126107626059?
The Sanyo Card, another very rare model, I think it's really tiny in person. https://www.ebay.com/itm/256230176369?
Pearlcorder X-01 for cheap, these little soft-touch microcassette players are really impressive. https://www.ebay.com/itm/175906607220?
This looks like one of the first JVC Boomboxes and is not on the Wikiboombox! The JVC-RC-200E is priced to sell, I've never seen one of these before and it might never be seen again. It's a little crusty, maybe missing the battery door and I can't tell if it's JDM or has the full FM band. I think the antenna retracts into the body making it ultra-cool. https://www.ebay.com/itm/175931181721?
JVC made a few boombox with multi-bands, they are all high-quality builds and have a smaller, yet wider, footprint. These tend to be fairly rare, I've never seen this one up for sale before and it is NOS! including the box and manuals. A few of our members live close to the North Pole, I wonder if this is one of them? The JVC RC-77JW https://www.ebay.com/itm/285497867949?
It's no secret that there's a few brands that were positioned themselves at entry-level and in the USA were mostly found at discount stores, Soundesign is one of them. Most likely they were pulling off the shelf parts from Taiwan and making unique low-cost equipment. This one hit me, it may be unique, I don't remember another with a "Searcher" Function and it's a great looking deck although the pressboard back is a let down. Sure we had skip a song but this has eight buttons to move it to a song on the tape, instead of hitting skip, wait, hitting skip, etc. Maybe one of our cassette buddies, Techmoan or VWestlife can snap this up and do a video on it. The Soundesign 0496 Tape Deck https://www.ebay.com/itm/195956752660?
Here is an unusual one which might belong in the Archaeology thread. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/256214920011 Seeing the outside I was expecting one of the usual Music Centre in a Briefcase type things. However, they seem to have put tape storage in place of the turntable Definitely in the category of Stereo2Go, but what exactly is it? A Boomcase?
Wow, that's a very early Sanyo Stereo Piano Key Player. Think about it, back around 73 you had the latest and greatest portable format, you showed up with this briefcase and the party started! At ten bucks I'd be all over this and add it to the few Crowns I've picked up. If this shows up in a Techmoan Video, it will confirm who I think is our Techmoan Member..........
Having just posted the newspaper advert I had to look what a JVC RC-X510 was and found https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/374890485258 £199 to £15 in 33 years and that doesn't take into account inflation. p.s. I can assure you I am not Techmoan having only ever bought one MiniDisc player, and that was recently. I did get a thank you from him in one of his videos.
Cool AIWA Car Stereo Sign, I'm trying to think but I don't know if I've ever seen an AIWA Car Stereo before. https://www.ebay.com/itm/295203234007
7-Up Lighter but look at the bottom, that really looks like a Crown of Japan Logo https://www.ebay.com/itm/296007310248?
Sony POPS Music Banner, the seller also has Orange, Watermelon, Strawberry and maybe more, these are neat, does anybody own these NOS tapes? https://www.ebay.com/itm/164632042662?
Is this the first vehicle in the "Cool Stuff for sale" thread ? https://carsandbids.com/auctions/9aQvPx0Q/1994-toyota-crown-royal-e I thought it was worthy of an entry as the first I have seen with dual cassette decks, I wonder if the lower deck was there simply because they needed a P.A. amplifier or whether it was actually used "Please observe the speed limit through the roadworks" etc. That would make sense when you see the car
Before I lose the link check out these multipacks (at the bottom of the page) https://www.45spaces.com/audio-compact-cassette-blank-tapes/r.php?r=aud530386 From the price I guess these were trying to compete with the Maxell UR
Great find Longman, those tapes area a great "slice" of audio history, I don't remember them at all but as a kid I was turned off by the bright-colored stuff. The Maxell black and gold would have been enough for me.
