aiwa HS=PX677 walkman

    Hi There

    Hope someone can help.?I have a aiwa walkman that ive had for years and Believe it needs a new drive belt as it keeps stopping and doesn't rewind at times . I have found a web site slovakia that sell new belts for this particular model. But cant figure out how to take this apart with out breaking small buttons, Ive looked everywere on utube but cant find anything to show. kind regards Trevor

    I don't think you need to remove those buttons to take the back cover off.
    What you will need to do is remove the gumstick battery door, that definetely needs to be removed first.

    Cannot find a service manual for this walkman, but I have worked on similar ones before and the buttons didn't require removal.
    Do note however that you will most likely need to desolder a couple of points on the PCB (motor, solenoid, tape in switch, etc.) and remove it in order to get to the belt.

    many thanks for your reply i have managed to down load the service manual for this device if i can upload this for you to take a look if its no trouble?

    Forgot to ask do you carry out repairs? If so what would you charge for replacing belt?

    The service manual does not show how to disassmble the unit.
    Since other AIWA service manuals show this, I must assume it's nothing very specific to this unit when it comes to disassembly.

    As for the PCB, seems there is the motor, solenoid and possibly tape EQ switch need to be desoldered.
    Not clear if the EQ switch is soldered on the board or on the case.

    I do carry out repairs, have sent you a private message.

    I found the 67 * 0.6mm belt fit this unit if it is helpful.
