Yesterday at a flea market i grabbed this tape still sealed in its original shrink wrap. It is obviously a demo tape Technics gave with its decks equipped with dbx in the early 80's, but there is absolutely no indication of what is recorded on it. I do not have a dbx deck and I do not dare to open the shrink wrap. I checked the web and DiscoGS, but could not find any detailed mention of this tape; I just found some images of Volume 1 up to Volume 4. Any idea what might be recorded on it ?
I was hoping someone had this tape not sealed ... I will never dare to unwrap it unless I find another one in same conditions; it is a time capsule from 1981, it might even contains air directly from early 80's Moreover I do not have a dbx capable deck, it would really be a waste and a disappointment as it would sound really bad.
I, like you, wouldn't open it, at least in the casaic way where the wrap gets destroyed and goes to the bin. But I thought about a different way to open it that in fact, looks like it’s still sealed and new. I think I should record a video to show how I do that…
