Young from Japan, it looks like you supplied the watch?

Cheap for a Seiko even in 1988. Did they over gadget it ?

There again how much would those Earrings be today ?
They certainly might have been the better investment.

I had a friend who had that watch, and always wanted it. At the time I didn't know it dated back to the 80s. Although I still wear a Casio watch

I have a calculator watch around here somewhere, they were so goofy and you'd get a lot of looks but they were great for quick math.

Check out this Fairchild from 1978, I had no idea they were also in the watch game, interesting company, there's some cool documentaries on it's history over on YouTube.

Another wild one from 1977, the Keith Ian Calculator Watch! Was this the first one?

You are three years out of the date. https://digital.sciencehistory.org/works/jd472w85s
Funny how 1978 just seemed completely wrong. Things were moving so quickly back then that comparing digital watches from 1975 and 1978 would be like comparing cars from the 1950s and 1980s.

In the 1970s all the major electronics companies had a go at Digital Watches but prices dropped so quickly most lost money on them.
Here is the story of how Intel lost $15 million on Digital Watches

I might have gotten the date wrong but in the magazine I found it, it had multiple insertions which seems to start around 75. They also did a cool watches article which included the Fairchild, maybe they had to do more advertising to get included in the article?

I found a pretty cool website showing historic Casio watches
    https://casioau.com/pages/casio-watches-history

Fifty years since they released their first one in 1974.
As mentioned in another thread I actually got an F100 in 1978.
That would have been my first Casio product as my calculator was a Prinztronic with a red LED display.

I don't remember Casio until maybe a generic digital watch but definately the really cool calculator watch. Around 1982 I bought an ML-81 Calculator that could play notes when you pressed the numbers and I really loved that one. I'll have to borrow those factory photos for the factory thread!

Here are some more general pictures

I remember a kid at school showing off his Father's LC78 Credit card calculator which cost about £20 back in 1978.

p.s. I love the way that the 1957 "compact" calculator had castors on the base.

Seiko, I wonder if this was tied into James Bond, didn't he have a Seiko in one of the movies?
