Check out this little beauty, the Crown CTV-12 from 1970. Crown might have beat out Sony for looks on this gem, it's mostly gold with black accents and looks like it might have come from a Star Trek Set.

7 kg (15 lbs), not a very heavy boomer, is there a scale with weight to WPC to get a kind of close figure? I feel like my larger boomers pushing 12 WPC might be around 18 lbs.

The full SMs are over on archive.org if anybody needs one, I'm into the specs on the first page, hope you enjoy.

    A newspaper advert from 1990

    Index were an Argos wannabe.
Just eighteen months earlier I would have been very interested in that £99 CD Radio Cassette.
However, by 1990 I had both a CD player and a house, and was spending my money on CDs and computer gear.

It's not correct, the datasheet for the amp says 6 wpc, and that's just with batteries. With AC it's probably more. Whatever the case, that box will smoke an M70 for bass and warmth, so the specs don't matter

Crown SHC-49F with Mixing! It looks portable but I can't read any of it.

Another cool one from Crown 1969, the CSC-9350M, I don't know if this is a portable but I'd guess yes since it has similar styling to the later portables. Check out the SHC-44, what a neat little cassette radio system, I have to believe this is one of the first of this style.

Hi, new to the site. Stumbled upon this thread since I was searching on the net for a Crown 960, (which I owned in the mid 80's).

Happy to say I bought an 850 recently and love it.
Judging by the comments on this thread I believe I made a good choice.

Would be a joy to own a 960 again.

Congratulations on your new arrival, Crown is getting a lot of love thanks to Deech. I've bought some here and there since this thread started, even some of the cool suitcase models which I'll have to post. There's no denying that they were a well built brand.

An old Crown CTR-990, it looks really goofy how he's putting that tape in!

Had one and did like how it looked! So great looking mid-size machine.

    Pic of not mine.

And some color customs from maybe BBX-ry or even S2G. :)

Definately a looker, I think all the shades of gray and chrome make it pop without being to much bling like a Lasonic.

I have to clean up a couple suitcases I've aquired!
