Just saw this, a Weston Music Boy portable stereo player. No idea of age but I am guessing very very early 80s. Made in Japan.
Anyone heard of it before, got any info. I am kinda loving the industrial look of it. Size wise it looks to be maybe a square shape TPS-L2.

Look up my AKA Audiologic by Randix, I've posted it somewhere on here. There's also a Popular Mechanic's Article in the Walkman Archeaolgy Thread comparing the Randix to a few other models from that time.

The design is a little weird but they are nice robust units, I never saw your version before, Randix had a lot of cool mail-order stuff, check out their mini-stereo that stacks like books.

Well, I ended up buying. Just love the chunky look.
I’ll check it more when it arrives.

Well it's in my hot little hands.
I have no idea how to clean the outside grime. It looks like the previous owner tried on one side and it took the silver off, it's down to the base grey plastic.
I tried an earbud with isopropyl alcohol, on a tiny part on the back, and it takes the paint off (I guess that's what the seller used). So I tried an ear bud with some soapy water, doesn't seem to move it.
    Any hints?

I haven't bother to open it up yet, or even put a battery in.

IPA does dissolve some types of paint, although rare.
What I would do is disassemble the case from the unit, polish it (but only lightly as that will also affect the paint), then clean it with soap and water.

If disassembly is difficult and not worth doing, I would try some window cleaner on a microfiber tower. But try on the back before fully comitting as you never know.

I would be very careful with window cleaner. My 1988 Nissan Sunny had printed decals on the on the back rather than the more usual badges. Cleaning it one day, after cleaning the windows with window cleaner I wiped the cloth across the decals which looking a bit dirty. The Window cleaner took the paint / ink off the decals quicker than it took the dirt off the rear window :shock

Sometimes I use Simple Green, you can dilute it down to just about nothing.
