    Hi all,

I've got a D335 discman, which is a lovely looking unit, only problem is this one doesn't seem to power on, with DC or AA batteries.

I thought it might be the Door open/close detect micro switch but after some isopropyl still no joy. I even tried shorting the pins on the microswitch and still nothing.

I'm wonder if it might be a Diode issue? The ones responsible for power conversion? Does anyone know the which diode's to look at on this particular model? In case someone has used the wrong polarity power?

This unit is 4.5V centre positive so i have doubts the wrong DC input was used.

Anything else to look at to get this one to go?

I did some fault finding with my meter and found there was 3V coming through the powerboard into the power jack board onto the mainboard, so looks like its getting enough juice?

    UPDATE:
Ok ok so a little more tinkering and it turns out it is indeed the Microswitch, I was also shorting it incorrectly. So we now have power!

It looks like the shock absorbers (rubber grommets) are getting quite loose and almost oily, anyone know of a replacement for this?

This might help its stability, when I turn "ESP" on its shocking, seems to work better with it off!

Does anyone know the motor model for the D335? M901 in the service manual. Is it also a RF-410?

Sorry, I can't help, I don't do much with the portable CD players.

In regard to rubber gromets, if they're the standard o-ring type, I have used 10mm x 3.5mm (outer diameter x cross section) o-rings on Discmans.
But not all CD players use this type. You can find o-rings here: https://www.ebay.com/itm/185781170191

As for the motor remove the one from the player and see its sticker. If you don't find an exact replacement, look for one that has same dimensions and shaft diameter.
The voltage rating isn't critical as the servo is able to compensate for it.
Note you will need to measure the height of the spindle and match it on re-installation.
