More of an oddity from the 80's, the AKAI Trackman Pro, this would be a great subject for a Techmoan Video, how the heck does it work? There's three inputs plus effects? What do the heads look like? Tascam and the PortaStudios kept getting smaller, I think I have one slightly larger than this and it looks like the same quality. Did anybody make a real PRO portable 4-track recorder? I'm sure if your messing around and don't want to lose a drunken session these would be fine. https://reverb.com/item/40901999-akai-u5-trackman-studio-portable-cassette-4-track-recorder
Here's an interesting one, the Soundesign Musicmate Model 4288, made in Japan. This looks like a contender for the smallest Walkman, I wonder who built it for them? For a Soundesign, it's not a bad looking product; This looks like an AKA for the Sansui FX-W30R, of course I like the Sansui better but it's worth checking out. https://www.ebay.com/itm/385179332012?
…this is anything else but not even close to be a bargain, they‘re not worth more than 10 bucks each (sorry )
This is kind of unique, Philips FM Tape Cartridge for any portable. I don't know about this one but most of the time the tape deck has to be running to get the "signal" from the cartridge. This is still a super-cool piece of history and it has to be much better than some of the dollar store junk. https://www.ebay.com/itm/325721650641
A Sony WM-6 in red seems kind of rare plus you get the killer Solar Crown with the deal. https://www.ebay.com/itm/334943495871?
One of my favorites, the Sony WA-77 (Sony WA-200 USA), these came in multiple colors but tend to be very rare. Obviously this one is roached out so buy at your own risk! https://www.ebay.com/itm/394880295786?
A rare Samsung MyMy, MY-A114 for cheap. It looks like heat made the plastic cover melt onto the player. I'm on the fence with this one, you'll most likely never see one again, this looks KDM. I'm doing research for the beer and boombox thread tonight so if it sits long I'll probably grab it. I don't have a lot of Korean Made Portables but the ones I do own are outstanding quality. https://www.ebay.com/itm/115965673296?
Randix Audiologic Walkman WA-20, yes this is branded Walkman!!!! I don't know if this is a deal, never saw one before but while Randix seemed to be mail-order stuff, most was pretty decent build quality. https://www.ebay.com/itm/126181978370?
Some Sony WM-EX2000. I already got a BNIB one which was completely serviced but sharing some more that look to be in otherwise fully serviced and immaculate condition. The first and last cassette walkman ever made with the new Walkman logo and basically every single feature of the previous gens + some new features (surround sound) etc. https://walkman.land/sony/wm-ex2000 From Japan - https://www.ebay.com/itm/196267737571 - Near mint otherwise perfect condition and comes with most of the original accessories (stand, charger, etc) [$575 USD] Here's another one. From Australia - https://www.ebay.com/itm/196286571005 - Near mint otherwise perfect condition. Serviced completely by a very reputable guy and completely restored and comes with all the same original accessories etc. as above [$990 USD] Last one (for the Europeans, no VAT!) From Romania - https://www.ebay.com/itm/355484779202 - Near mint condition. Serviced completely by a very reputable guy and completely restored and comes with all the same original accessories etc. as above. [€790 EUR / $862 USD]
Another rare one, the Hitachi CP-S20 PeeWee Lo-D, buy with knowledge, this does require the remote to work and it doesn't seem to have one! https://www.ebay.com/itm/145693537916?
This is a cool looking Nippon FS-987. Their stuff is hit or miss so I have no idea on the quality but it does look like an early recording model. There has been discussion of who Nippon is, TPR used to say it was part of NEC (Nippon Electric Company) but this is labeled Kasuga Seiki who also had a line of boomboxes and still makes metal machining mills today. It looks like it's missing the battery door but I'd be all over this if it was less dough, maybe it will drop. https://www.ebay.com/itm/404925382551? There's also a more expensive boxed version https://www.ebay.com/itm/363212938356 Remember the old discussion on units with a tape length meter? Add this to the list!
Remember the Sony Walking Man Tape? https://www.stereo2go.com/topic/ind...5913240339063165&board_oid=193392314111653483 Currently out of stock, maybe more are coming? https://www.ebay.com/itm/134965234548 I'm pretty sure this seller is a member here, maybe it was 3-4 years ago he was talking about his NOS shop but I believe these are reproductions.
Just saw this Boodo Khan on ebay for a reasonable price ($620 OBO). Someone interested may be able to haggle the seller down another $50 or so.
