More of an oddity from the 80's, the AKAI Trackman Pro, this would be a great subject for a Techmoan Video, how the heck does it work? There's three inputs plus effects? What do the heads look like? Tascam and the PortaStudios kept getting smaller, I think I have one slightly larger than this and it looks like the same quality. Did anybody make a real PRO portable 4-track recorder? I'm sure if your messing around and don't want to lose a drunken session these would be fine.

Here's an interesting one, the Soundesign Musicmate Model 4288, made in Japan. This looks like a contender for the smallest Walkman, I wonder who built it for them? For a Soundesign, it's not a bad looking product; This looks like an AKA for the Sansui FX-W30R, of course I like the Sansui better but it's worth checking out.

This is kind of unique, Philips FM Tape Cartridge for any portable. I don't know about this one but most of the time the tape deck has to be running to get the "signal" from the cartridge. This is still a super-cool piece of history and it has to be much better than some of the dollar store junk.

One of my favorites, the Sony WA-77 (Sony WA-200 USA), these came in multiple colors but tend to be very rare. Obviously this one is roached out so buy at your own risk!

A rare Samsung MyMy, MY-A114 for cheap. It looks like heat made the plastic cover melt onto the player. I'm on the fence with this one, you'll most likely never see one again, this looks KDM. I'm doing research for the beer and boombox thread tonight so if it sits long I'll probably grab it. I don't have a lot of Korean Made Portables but the ones I do own are outstanding quality.

Randix Audiologic Walkman WA-20, yes this is branded Walkman!!!! I don't know if this is a deal, never saw one before but while Randix seemed to be mail-order stuff, most was pretty decent build quality.

I don't know but I think most of the MyMy's were original designs.

This is a cool looking Nippon FS-987. Their stuff is hit or miss so I have no idea on the quality but it does look like an early recording model. There has been discussion of who Nippon is, TPR used to say it was part of NEC (Nippon Electric Company) but this is labeled Kasuga Seiki who also had a line of boomboxes and still makes metal machining mills today. It looks like it's missing the battery door but I'd be all over this if it was less dough, maybe it will drop.

There's also a more expensive boxed version

Remember the old discussion on units with a tape length meter? Add this to the list!

Just saw this Boodo Khan on ebay for a reasonable price ($620 OBO).

Someone interested may be able to haggle the seller down another $50 or so.
