@Mister X asked me for more info about my Panasonic RQ-114. So, here are some photos. IMO it's a real beauty. It's fully working, no scratches, the leather case is pristine and it came with the original manual. Only the mic (brand: GE) looks added afterwards. I bought it in The Netherlands but it must have been used in the US. Not only because of the Panasonic brand but also because of the content that was on the tapes. And i have to say, listing to the tapes was as exciting as finding this RQ-114: one tape contained a live radio recording from the 2nd Muhammed Ali - Sonny Liston fight. Not only the commentators still called Ali: Clay. The tape box also has written 'Clay - Liston' on it (check the photo). The device is truly portable with a strap and also working on batteries. More info can f.e. be found on https://www.radiomuseum.org/r/panasonic_rq_114rq11.html The whole package. It's a looker! another glamour shot Battery compartment including serial number.
Thanks for posting Magnotron! I thought I had seen it before, I posted one on the mega-forsale thread but it's a National 2370 (Japanese Domestic Market, JDM). http://stereo2go.com/forums/threads/cool-stuff-for-sale-mega-thread.3023/page-2 Those are so cool, I love miniature audio equipment and they really went all out on the design of this, even being very basic you can see the future Walkman in it. The fact that you have a fight recorded on it is amazing, definately preserve that. I was working on a boombox a few weeks ago and got sucked into watching Ali-Foreman 1974 on YouTube. For us Americans in the 70's-80's, heavyweight boxing was huge, ABC would show title fights on Friday Nights and the nation was glued to the TV set. HBO took it over in the 80's when Tyson dominated but they moved to pay per view and it got harder to watch the fights without paying big money.
Mini reel to reel fans might like to look at http://www.dustygizmos.com/arcpages/arctape.htm He doesn't have that National / Panasonic though
Those are really cool Longman, I love that style was also part of the design, while some are mail-order models they still look super-cool. It's hard not to get sucked into collecting a few of these, if you can find them.
Hi-I don't suppose you could supply a scanned copy of the manual? Also a close up of the DC power plug? Also, does the AC/DC power adapter have a model number on it?
