A Sony D6C popped up on eBay that seemed a good deal. Starting bid was £395, having previously been up for £495 and not selling. It was described as being in immaculate condition and that it had been regularly serviced throughout its life. It came with EVERYTHING that was supplied when bought new except the box. It was a model with the parabolic pointy head. I contacted the seller and it turned out they were FIVE MINUTES walk away from my home. So I went and had a look and tested it out. It was in great condition and did indeed come with everything as it would have originally, all pretty much as new. It worked. It even came with some spare belts and other items that are obviously part of the insides that get replaced during a service. It was bought from an old man who was selling all of his vintage hi-fi gear, so they bought it all. The guy selling to me didn't really know much about these but I was prepared to pay around £500 for it. But I cheekily offered £350... and he accepted. I'm still going to get it serviced though. What are the chances one of these was waiting for me less than a mile from my home??? @Deb64 I've emailed you regarding this and look forward to hearing from you.
Sony Ecm- 929lt stereo microphone. I've never seen that before. You didn't get the shoulder strap that does come in the box, but that micro-phone doesn't come in the box. Also you didn't get the cheesy headphones that come with the box. Lucky you.
Ah, okay. So some of the bits and pieces aren't what came with it then? The shoulder strap is there, but maybe it's not the original then? Didn't realise it came with headphones originally. What were the contents of the box when this originally came out? Did they change over time?
Mine came with headphones mdr-51. Of course they need the new ear cushion foam cuz they're rotted away. And a y adapter 3.5 mm stereo to a pair of phono jacks. Strap for the carrying of the Walkman with the case and the instructions and other little papers. I even still have the red Sony AA four pack cellophane wrapped batteries. I'm not sure they're any good by now. Yes, I have two models. They're not the pointy head model like yours. The other one I have just has the shoulder strap and the unit and the case and the instructions I need to find time to play these again see if they work. The one that I have was a box I've had since 2007. And the other one I also got in 2007. I haven't touched them since.
Sony Walkman wm-d6 x 2 and one boxed d6c and another d6c without the box here. Let me get a picture. And now let's open everything Oh look, the d6 came with a demonstration tape by Sony with the headphones 3.5 mm y adapter the strap and the other one just came with a strap and the unit and the case anyway.
Since I filled up your thread with these pictures, I decided to make a new thread in the gallery of the Walkman in this site and updated that as far as what I know about the models as I just put batteries in them and tested them. So go over there and read that.
