Ok, I know that this is a *really* low-end radio, BUT when I was a kid, maybe 13 or 14, I had this radio. Very fond memories of staying up all night in the summer building robots in my bedroom. Listening to Tina Turner, Madonna, etc on B-94 in Pittsburgh around ‘84. Anyone got one in nice shape they’d be willing to sell at a reasonable price? I have a few clean lower-end boxes to swap or I’ll just buy it outright. Please let me know!
That’s not a good sign when I’ve stumped YOU Lenoxx Sound was a low-end brand similar to Sound Design. This particular unit was also sold under the Lloyd’s brand name. As for the retailer, mine came from Pat’s Stereo in PA. They sold really high-end audio (Denon and others), but had a low shelf of Christmas-cracker radios to cash in on the BBX craze. I was building microprocessor controlled 250 pound autonomous robots back in the mid 80’s at age 13 and needed a cassette deck for program storage. I was quite the little salesman and talked them into donating a boombox for that task. I clearly remember feeling like they handed me a goose egg when they walked out with a Lennox Sound radio. Just for fun, a pic of my robot. It was a fully autonomous fire fighting robot replete with an onboard solenoid controlled halon fire extinguisher. Smoke and heat sensors round out the build. The Lennox Sound BBX was mounted inside, minus one detachable speaker.
