Just got this beautiful WM-20 mainly for a display piece as it's in great physical condition. It was sold as working but with a high motor noise so my expectation was that the motor was faulty. However when running the motor only it is quiet and nice. The noise goes away when gently person one of the flywheels, see the movie. Before taking it more apart, do anyone know this issue? If it is a worn down cogwheel without replacement I don't want to spend the time and keep it as display piece.

Btw playback sounds fine with resonable W&F but I only played for some seconds not to make the problem IMG_3418.jpeg IMG_3418.jpeg IMG_3419.jpeg IMG_3420.jpeg larger.

Thanks, that was useful. I recon the ticking is from a broken gear, I was thinking I would see if I can fix the noise before attempting to fix the gear.

well, if you try fixing it id start with trying to find what is actually bent under the cog. fix that = no bend = no noise. over the years the belt bends them down a bit but kinda rarely is it actually a problem like this
fingers crossed its an easy fix

also, the cracked gear for whatever reason doesnt make its autostop kick in. every time i had one with a cracked gear the autostop would freak out, just odd
